1. When can college coaches begin to send recruiting material to high school students?
- September 1 of the student's junior year in high school.
2. Are there any items that may be sent to the student before September 1 of the junior year in high school? Yes. They are:
- Camp Brochures
- NCAA Educational Information (for example, the NCAA Guide for the College bound Student-Athlete)
- Questionnaires
3. What types of information can a college coach send to high school students after September 1 of their junior year in high school?
- Letters
- Pre-enrollment Information
- Email (not instant messenger)
- Athletics Publications
- Non-athletics Publications
- Schedule Cards
- Student-Athlete Handbook (after the student has signed a national letter of intent or been accepted for enrollment at the college or university)
4. When can a college coach telephone a high school student?
- Football: One time, from April 15 to May 31, during the student's junior year of high school. After the April/May telephone call, the coach cannot call the student again until September 1 of his senior year in high school. After September 1 of the senior year, coaches can call the students once per week.
- Men's Basketball: One call per month on or after June 15 of the student's sophomore year in high school through July 31 of the student's junior year in high school; two calls beginning August 1 prior to the student's senior year in high school.
- Women's Basketball: One call during the month of April of the student's junior year in high school on or after the Thursday after the finish of the NCAA Division I Women's Final Four; One call during the month of May of the student's junior year in high school; One call on or after June 1 through June 20 of the student's junior year in high school; One call on or after June 21 through June 30 of the student's junior year in high school; Three calls during the month of July following the student's junior year in high school, with no more than one telephone call per week; Thereafter, one call per week.
- Sports Other Than Football and Basketball: July 1 following the student's junior year in high school with no more than one call per week
5. Can a high school student telephone a college coach?
- Yes, however the coach may not be able to return the call if the student is not going into his or her senior year in high school (see question 4 above).
